Works from the FRAC Poitou-Charentes collection

The eye and the window pair a transparent boundary between the exterior and an interior. The eye is the window of the brain, the window is the eye of the house. The brain is the place of intelligence, imagination, dreams and madness. Like the house, it is also the place of the greatest intimacy.
The recent acquisition of certain works reveals in the collection new links with and between works that have been part of it for a longer time. This exhibition thus brings into play works that mark thresholds, appear alternately as architectural disorders and as visual disturbances of a geometry or a representation; works that revisit the traditional artistic motif of the window; others, finally, who consider the eye as a reflection of the psyche or who reveal emotional states and practices on the thread of the unconscious. The black and white or the deep red of the works as well as a number of iconographic elements, endow the exhibition with a singular expressionist tone and possibly point to film noir and horror film as fields of aesthetic references.
